Nominations for the Federal National Council elections open tomorrow, Sunday

Tomorrow, Sunday, the door for nominations for the Federal National Council elections, which will take place on September 24, will begin to compete for half of the 40 seats in the Council.

Candidacy applications are submitted at the registration centers of the Emirates committees, accompanied by the documents specified by the executive instructions and published on the National Elections Committee website uaenec.ae. Applications continue to be submitted over a period of four days from August 14-17, from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon, and after the closing of the door of Nomination The Committee will announce the preliminary list of candidates and open the way for appeals against these candidates in preparation for announcing the final list on August 28, 2011.

His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and member of the National Elections Committee, said: “The committee begins a new phase of the electoral process, which is the stage of registering candidates, and we have provided all the necessary supplies to implement this step with ease and ease. More than one center in some Emirates with the aim of easing the burden of candidates and avoiding overcrowding during the registration period.

He added, "We hope that all the candidates will have their motto when making the decision to run that the purpose of membership in the Federal National Council is to represent all the people of the Union and not just to represent the emirate, and that this second electoral experience, which is characterized by the large number of electoral colleges, will establish a rich parliamentary life in the future." We also hope that our fellow voters will choose the candidate who will add to this experience and work to enhance and support it.”

It is noteworthy that the documents required for candidacy are the identity card issued by the Emirates Identity Authority, the family book, three recent colored photos, a certificate of good conduct addressed to the National Elections Committee, and the submission of a certificate from the employer stating that he has ceased to practice public office from the date of announcing the final list of candidates (28 /8/2011) and until the date of approving the final list of winners (28/9/2011), a certificate of resignation from the position for members of the judicial authority, a registration fee of (1000) dirhams, and the CV of the candidate in case the candidate so desires.
