The National Elections Committee announces the closing of the door for candidates' withdrawal and the extension of the period for submitting applications for candidates' agents

Today, the National Elections Committee announced the closing of the door for withdrawals for candidates for membership of the Federal National Council, bringing the number of those continuing in the electoral process after announcing the final list to 329 candidates. This announcement comes in accordance with the approved timetable for the 2015 Federal National Council elections, which set September 14 as the last date for the withdrawal of candidates.

With the end of the last day of the withdrawal process, the withdrawals of the candidates were distributed to four emirates only, according to the following: the emirate of Abu Dhabi recorded seven (7) candidates withdrew, and in the emirate of Dubai two (2) candidates withdrew, and in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah one candidate (1), and in the emirate of Fujairah Two (2) candidates. While the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain did not record any withdrawals by the candidates.

The National Elections Committee also announced the extension of the period for submitting applications for candidates’ agents until Wednesday, September 16, which was scheduled to end today with the closing of the door for withdrawals, as each candidate for membership of the Federal National Council has the right to choose representatives for him from among the members of the electoral college in the emirate to which he belongs. to her.

The National Elections Committee specified the number of agents in the Emirates, where there are more than three election centers, with a maximum of three agents for the candidate. In the Emirates, where there are only three polling stations; The candidate may choose a maximum of two (2) two agents on his behalf. In the Emirates where there are two polling stations, the candidate may choose a maximum of one representative on his behalf.

The National Elections Committee calls on male and female candidates to abide by and abide by the electoral campaign regulations stipulated in the articles of the executive instructions and the instructions issued by the committee, as their commitment to these articles prevents them from being subjected to the penalties prescribed in accordance with the executive instructions for the elections, and the appeals that will be submitted by other candidates against them. This is in order to produce the electoral process in a civilized and honorable manner befitting the reputation of the United Arab Emirates.
