Each member of an electoral body has the right to run for the 2015 Federal National Council elections in the emirate to which he belongs, if he fulfills the conditions for candidacy, which is that he is a citizen of one of the emirates of the state, and resides permanently in the emirate that he represents in the Federal National Council, and that his age is not less than twenty-five Gregorian year (i.e. he was born on October 02, 1990 and earlier). And that he enjoys civil capacity, good conduct, good reputation, has never been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, unless he has been rehabilitated according to the law, and that he has sufficient knowledge of reading and writing.

The National Elections Committee specified the candidacy procedures that applications for candidacy be submitted during the period from August 16 to August 20, 2015. And that the candidacy application be submitted by the candidacy applicant himself or through an agent on his behalf under a special power of attorney, and to submit the candidacy application to the Emirate Committee to which the candidate belongs in the places specified by the committee, and the National Elections Committee had recently announced that it is permissible for the applicant to run for membership of the Federal National Council 2015 by proxy Other than him to submit his candidacy application to the Emirate Committee to which he belongs.

Members of the electoral bodies wishing to run for elections and at the same time occupy a public position, whether federal or local, must submit a certificate stating that he has obtained leave from his work from the date of announcing the final list of candidates (08/31/2015) until the date of the election day (03/10/). 2015 AD). If a member of the judiciary wishes to run for elections, a member of the judiciary authority must present a certificate proving his resignation from his position with the candidacy application. Regarding the permissibility of deputizing for the candidacy process, His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, Chairman of the Election Management Committee, stressed that it is required that the representative of the candidate be a citizen of the country. However, it is not required for him to be a member of the Electoral College of one of the emirates, or from the same emirate to which the candidate belongs, pointing out that it is mandatory that among the documents submitted be an educational certificate to prove his knowledge of reading and writing.

According to the schedule for the 2015 Federal National Council elections, the National Elections Committee will announce the preliminary list of candidates on August 23, and the final list will be announced on August 31, and the candidate can withdraw his candidacy application no later than September 14.

With the completion of the stage of the registration process for those wishing to run for membership of the Federal National Council 2015, and the issuance of the final list of candidates, the electoral process will have entered a new stage represented by the campaign period for the candidates, followed by voting from the country’s embassies abroad for the period 20-21 September, and early voting for the period between September 28-30.
