Today, the National Elections Committee announced the preliminary list of candidates for the Federal National Council elections, which included 469 members of the Electoral College who ran for the 2011 elections.

The National Elections Committee had opened the door for candidacy during the period from 14-17 August through the Emirates committees. Members of the electoral bodies who wished to run for membership in the Federal National Council submitted their applications to the Emirate Committee, which in turn submitted all applications to the Elections Management Committee, which worked during the three days. The past review and verification of applications and ensure the availability of the constitutional conditions for candidacy in addition to the requirements contained in the executive instructions for the 2011 elections.

The audit process resulted in the exclusion of some applications for not meeting the conditions and requirements for candidacy, and the final list of candidates will be approved on August 28, and the number of candidates in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi reached 117, in the Emirate of Dubai 124 candidates, and in the Emirate of Sharjah 94 candidates, and their number reached in the Emirate of Ras The tent 60 candidates, the Emirate of Ajman 34 candidates, the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain 19 candidates, and the Emirate of Fujairah 21 candidates.

Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash said: "The process of registering candidates proceeded with all positivity and cooperation between the National Elections Committee and the UAE committees, whose work was characterized by effectiveness and great organization, which reflects positively on the progress of the electoral process in all its stages and confirms everyone's keenness to produce this experience in a civilized and organized manner."

The National Elections Committee indicated that the completion of the preliminary list came after checking all submitted nomination applications and ensuring that the candidates submitted all the required attachments and that they conform to the constitutional and legal conditions related to eligibility for candidacy.

The UAE committees, when submitting a nomination application, gave each candidate his own identification number randomly issued by the nomination program, so that this number serves as an identification code for the candidate before the electoral bodies, and it is used in the electronic voting system on election day, as the system provides two methods for the first vote by pressing On the candidate's photo or entering the identification number assigned to him.

As of tomorrow, Sunday, August 21, 2011, objection requests against candidates will begin and will continue until August 23, provided that the National Election Commission responds to the objections on August 24 and 25 and announces the final list of candidates on August 28, after which the electoral campaigns begin on September 4.

The National Elections Committee called on male and female candidates to abide by the dates of launching the electoral campaigns according to the schedule approved and announced by the National Elections Committee, and to adhere to the controls stipulated in the articles of the executive instructions, in order to produce the electoral process in a civilized and honorable manner befitting the reputation of the United Arab Emirates at the regional and global levels. .
