Mohamed bin Zayed inspects the electoral center at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre

Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, affirmed that the 2011 Federal National Council elections, which are scheduled to be held next Saturday, constitute an important step and a milestone on the way to enhancing the active popular participation of the people of the country to support the process of construction and development, in order to achieve more progress. Achievements under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him."

His Highness said, "Our beloved country is witnessing a societal movement within the framework of the Empowerment Program, which aims to deepen our parliamentary experience and develop its performance with confident, steady and ambitious steps towards achieving the aspirations of our wise leadership in activating political participation to draw the nation's present and create its future."

This came during His Highness's inspection visit to the headquarters of the main electoral center for the Federal National Council elections in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, which is the largest electoral center in the country, where His Highness was briefed on the latest preparations of the National Elections Committee to receive voters and candidates and complete the election process on Saturday.

His Highness added, "On this occasion, we look forward to wide participation and increased turnout from all electoral bodies in the country, and the contribution of women, youth and men of the country in this national duty to choose their representatives under the dome of the Council in a spirit of responsibility and on objective bases that express the pulse of the people and put the interest of the country above all considerations and devote Positive and fair competition during the electoral process to highlight the civilized images of the United Arab Emirates and its constant endeavor towards consolidating national gains and achievements. There is no loser in this regard, rather the winner is the homeland and its people.

Upon his arrival at the polling center, His Highness was received by Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, Chairman of the National Elections Committee, HE Jabr Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Election Commission for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and HE Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and member of the National Committee. For elections, the Chairman of the Elections Management Committee and a number of members of the National Elections Committee and the Elections Management Committee.

His Highness toured the main voting hall, the procedures for receiving voters and the facilities provided to them. His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah gave a detailed explanation to His Highness about all the polling stations spread across all the emirates of the country, where 13 polling centers were allocated, distributed in a manner that takes into account the population density of the electoral bodies and the geographical distance so that voters can exercise their electoral right with ease.

The electronic voting system adopted in the Federal National Council elections 2011 was reviewed, in addition to the nature of the stages of conducting the elections, as a system characterized by the highest specifications of security and confidentiality was applied in all stages of the electoral process.

The facilities for women were also reviewed in order to contribute to giving privacy to their participation in the electoral process.
