The National Elections Committee receives 3 appeals and a report on an electoral violation from the UAE committees

Today, the deadline set by the National Committee for Federal National Council Elections to receive appeals against candidates for the period between 24-26 August has expired, as the committee received two appeal requests from the Emirate of Sharjah, one request to appeal in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and an electoral violation from one of the candidates in Ras Al Khaimah. The appeals submitted were referred to the Appeals Committee, at a time when a report was submitted by the Legal Committee to the National Elections Commission regarding the electoral violation received from Ras Al Khaimah.

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Muhammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, Chairman of the National Elections Commission, noted that the appeals process proceeded normally in accordance with the standards of accuracy and transparency adopted by the National Elections Commission in managing the electoral process, in accordance with the best standards and organizational procedures that are appropriate. status and sobriety of the electoral process.

His Excellency indicated that the appeals submitted to the committee were dealt with in accordance with the applicable legal and procedural frameworks, and the specialized committees affiliated with the National Elections Committee will study them and take the appropriate decision in their regard in a manner that guarantees the rights of all members of the electoral bodies to actively participate in the electoral process.

The National Elections Committee will refer applications for appeals against the candidates to the Appeals Committee on Thursday (27) August 2015 in order to submit reports of the legal opinion on them to the National Committee. The decisions of the National Elections Committee in this regard will be issued later, and the decisions issued by the National Elections Committee will be final (that is, they may not be appealed by any means of appeal). After that, the final list of candidates for membership of the Federal National Council will be announced on Monday, August 31, 2015.

According to the executive instructions for the elections of the Federal National Council, the Appeals Committee, which is a committee formed under the chairmanship of a judge and the membership of two experts and legal competence, will examine and study the appeals of objections to the candidates and submit reports of the legal opinion in them to the National Elections Committee to decide on them with decisions that have the force of final rulings.

The National Elections Committee had previously announced that each member of the Electoral College in the emirate may submit a request to challenge the candidacy of a candidate to the Emirate Committee to which he belongs according to the form prepared for that, during the period it specified from 24 to 26 August 2015, provided that it is The appeal is based on acceptable reasons and is accompanied by documents supporting his appeal.
