The National Elections Committee approves the final list of candidates for the 2015 Federal National Council elections

341 male and female candidates are on the final list.

Accepting appeal requests submitted against two candidates in the Emirate of Sharjah and rejecting the appeal request submitted to the Abu Dhabi Emirate Committee.

An application for candidacy in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah was canceled due to an electoral violation, and 3 candidates withdrew.

The percentage of women in the final list of candidates is (22%), with 76 female candidates in all emirates of the country.

The age group (40-60) is the most prominent presence in the number of candidates at a rate of (60%).

The National Elections Committee announced today that it has approved the final list of candidates for the 2015 Federal National Council elections, after the end of the appeals period, which witnessed the submission of three requests challenging the validity of the candidacy of two candidates from the Emirate of Sharjah and another candidate in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in addition to issuing an electoral violation against one of the candidates in the Emirate. Ras Al Khaimah.

After examining the appeals submitted, and based on the report of the appeals committee, the National Elections Commission announced that it had accepted the two appeals submitted against two candidates in the Emirate of Sharjah, and rejected the appeal submitted by one of the candidates in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The National Elections Committee also canceled the candidacy request of one of the candidates in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, based on the report received from the Legal Committee, due to the existence of an electoral violation related to the conduct of the electoral process. The final list included 341 male and female candidates out of 347 included in the preliminary list.

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, and Chairman of the National Elections Committee, said that the appeals review process was carried out in accordance with the legal procedures established by the committee by referring appeal requests to an independent committee headed by a judge, and that the National Elections Committee has approved what has been completed. The Appeals Committee's mechanism includes decisions related to the validity of appeal requests, as well as the matter with regard to electoral violations, and that dealing in this way with appeal requests is a development in the committee's work mechanism in receiving appeal requests.

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Gargash noted that the existence of appeals against candidates for membership of the Federal Council 2015 is a precedent in the elections held by the state, as the elections in the years 2006 and 2011 did not witness a case for filing appeals, or cases of cancellation of applications for candidacy as a result of electoral irregularities, such as those that occurred in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

The list of candidates includes 96 candidates from Abu Dhabi, 62 from Dubai, 61 from Sharjah, 41 from Ras Al Khaimah, 23 from Ajman, 20 from Umm Al Quwain, and 38 from Fujairah.

The percentage of women in the final list of candidates was (22%), with 76 female candidates in all emirates of the country. The age group (40-60) recorded the most prominent attendance in the number of candidates with a percentage of (60%) with (205) male and female candidates, followed by the age group under 40 years with a percentage of (38%) with 129 male and female candidates.

At the academic level, the percentage of candidates with high educational levels reached (49%), with 166 male and female candidates at the state level, while the percentage of candidates with an intermediate academic level reached (31%), with (106) male and female candidates, and those below secondary school with a percentage of (3). 14% with 48 male and female candidates.

The classification of candidates according to the work sector was as follows: former member of the National Council (5) candidates, police (9) candidates, military personnel (37) candidates, workers in the federal public sector (51) candidates, and workers in the local public sector (69) ) candidate, while the number of candidates working in the private sector reached (170).

Each candidate for the membership of the Federal National Council got his own number that he could use in his campaign and introduce voters to it, where the first digit of the number symbolizes the number of the emirate, while the second and third digits are random numbers issued through an electronic system.

According to the timetable for the Federal National Council elections 2015, the candidate can withdraw his candidacy application no later than September 14th.
