The third and final day of early voting in the 2019 Federal National Council (FNC) elections wrapped up today as members of the electoral college cast votes at the nine designated polling stations across the UAE.

During his tour of select polling stations, His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, Minister of State for FNC Affairs, and Chairman of the National Election Committee (NEC), said: “Strong voter participation is the main pillar of the success of the electoral process and is pivotal to building a distinct parliamentary system that caters to the requirements of the UAE society in an inclusive and fair manner.”

Calling on all members of the electoral college to fulfill their national duty and vote for their representatives, he added: “Today, on the conclusion of the early voting phase, we are gearing up for the main election day.”

A total of 39 polling stations across the UAE will welcome voters from 8am to 8pm on Saturday, October 5, 2019. After the closure of the polls, the electronic voting system will commence the automatic vote count, followed by the announcement of the preliminary results.

NEC reminded members of the electoral college that they must produce their Emirates ID for verification to be eligible to vote and added that they can cast their votes at any polling station, irrespective of the emirate in which they reside.
