The National Elections Committee launches the "Tasweet" initiative to introduce the electronic voting system for the Federal National Council elections

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, Chairman of the National Elections Commission, today inaugurated the “Tasweet” initiative, which aims to train members of the electoral colleges, including candidates and voters, using the electronic voting system adopted in the Federal National Council elections to be held in September 24, 2011.

The initiative was launched today at the Mushrif Commercial Center in Abu Dhabi, where a set of electronic voting devices were installed in the center. The initiative also includes the distribution of a number of devices in other commercial centers spread across the country, in the following centers Abu Dhabi, Mishref Commercial Center and Marina Mall , Al Ain City in Al Ain Mall, Western Region in Tamm Center, Sharjah in Sahara Center and in Dubai Mirdif City Center and The Dubai Mall, Ajman in Ajman City Center, Umm Al Quwain, Manama Center, Fujairah Point Center, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Manar Center.

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash said after the inauguration: "This initiative by the National Elections Committee comes within the framework of its efforts to facilitate the electoral process for all voters and candidates, and we aim to give an opportunity to view these devices and train on how to use them, although the system that was installed Its approval is easy and accurate.

He added: "This initiative contributes to spreading the electoral culture among all segments of society, as these devices are available to all and are not limited to electoral bodies, as shown

The technical and technical development that the state has reached with regard to the implementation of the elections electronically, since these centers are witnessing a turnout from the state ministries and residents.

His Excellency Dr. Anwar Gargash called on all electoral bodies to familiarize themselves with the electronic voting system and to train on it in the centers where the system is available.

In order to make the best use of this initiative, the Elections Management Committee held a training workshop yesterday evening for a number of volunteers of the Takatof Social Volunteering Program of the Emirates Foundation for Social Benefit to train them on using the electronic voting system, so that they have sufficient experience and knowledge to assist the visitors of the commercial centers where voting machines are available. By providing a detailed explanation to them, and distributing the necessary information about the system.

Electronic voting is one of the successful practices that provide a safe, effective and appropriate environment for voters, and many countries have adopted this system in their elections, and the UAE is the first country in the Arab region to adopt an electronic voting system in elections in 2006, and the Elections Management Committee By choosing the system that will be applied this year in line with the requirements of the country in addition to the nature of the election procedures, the global market has been studied in terms of specialization in the field of electronic voting solutions, and an evaluation has been made.
